The birds love them, the squirrels do not
These are mixed in with my other birdseed and mealworms, and the birds seem to pick them out like theyâre a favorite. I wonder if thatâs just them seeking calories in the cold weather, but I plan to keep mixing them in year-round. Buying several bags at once was a pretty good deal. The squirrels donât eat these; at first they kept the squirrels away entirely, but then the little monsters apparently figured out they could just eat around them. Now all my birdseed is hot pepper flavored, and that seems to be the key.

Birds love it. Squirrels hate it. Win-Win!

Keeps the squirrels at bay!
I was hesitant to buy these at first because I had tried a hot pepper product several years ago which the squirrels gobbled up, but I was desperate to keep the squirrels from my bird feeders as the baffles really don’t work on my wooded lot. I keep two peanut type tube feeders filled with these hot pepper nuggets. To my amazement, the squirrels leave them alone and the birds love them. I have to refill the feeders everyday not because of squirrels but because of the birds: all the woodpeckers – pileateds, red bellieds, downys, hairys, sap suckers- also catbirds and bluejays are at these feeders all day. This was my second order and it won’t be my last. Based on my experience, I highly recommend this product.

Attracts many diferent birds and quirrels leave it alone.
This stuff works very well. We are seeing more birds in number and type thanother other food we have used. We have a lot o clever and aggressive squirrels. They leave this stuff alone. Squirrels demolish untreated bird food where I live but they eave this stuff alone.I initially bought this stuff and feeder because my local shop was out of the hot suet cakes. It costs more but it has been worth it for the number and variety of birds it attracts and its ability to discourage squirrels.

Great product!
Woodpeckers love these suet pellets and because they are hot, the squirrels leave it alone. The heat does not affect or harm the birds. I recommend it. Great for springtime when they are feeding their babies, they love it!

Squirrels will eat it too
I bought the hot pepper version to deter the squirrels, but it doesnât. There is plenty of cayenne pepper on the nuggets as my eyes were watering as I filled the feeder. The birds love this stuff. It is a bit expensive though as the birds quickly eat it up.Donât get the hot pepper as it will not deter the squirrels, so it isnât worth what it could do to your eyes.

Woodpeckers love it, squirrels do not
Iâve had 4 kinds of woodpecker eat this hot pepper suet(downy, hairy, red-bellied, and pileated), plus I get wrens, tufted titmice, nuthatches, and chickadees on this suet. Iâm feeding it out of a mesh globe/ball feeder. Previously, I would have a mix of sunflower seeds, peanuts, and peanut chips in it, but then squirrels would not leave the feeder alone even though they could get a much easier meal from the open platform bird feeders. But no, they want to do it the hard way and tear up my mesh globe feeders. I make sure to fill the feeder with 75% hot pepper suet and then a small mix of sunflower seeds and peanut chips. The squirrels did come check it out but they didnât stay long and went elsewhere. This stuff actually smells good and hot too, just like Tabasco sauce. Iâve had other hot pepper suets in the past that didnât smell hot at all.
