By far my umbrella cockatoo’s favorite pellet
First, approximate large pellet sizes: sticks are in the 3/4″ x 1/4″ range, biscuits are around 1″ x 1/2″.Content: the larger parrot pellets have more protein than the tiny ones, they are not all the same.Next, the smell. No the food does NOT “stink”. No it does NOT smell like nail polish remover (or maybe we need to find that polish remover?). IT SMELLS LIKE BUBBLE-GUM. The smell is very strong, so strong some may consider it sort of chemical-like (and would say the same about bubble gum). So strong in fact we had our doubts our parrot would like it…BUT it turns out our umbrella cockatoo loves these. WAY more than any other pellets we’ve tried. Like WAY WAY more. Prior to this the only pellet she would consider was Lafeber classic, and only if it was soaked in water first. She happily eats Hagen Sticks dry. Chomp chomp chomp.Hagen pellets have a reputation for being a high quality food, and although the potency caught us completely off guard, it smells pretty good. If you look at the reviews, it seems like cockatoos accept the pellets more often than macaws. Each parrot is different and food changes can take a while for parrots, but ours dove into these pellets immediately. You will probably know right away whether your parrot likes them or not.

Great ingredient list and our very picky boy loves it! Hardly even makes soup with it, heâs too busy munching away! Highly recommend this for every birdy!

Powdered pellets.
This is the second time I have purchased this from Amazon and im extremely disappointed. The first time I received expired product that was mostly in a powdered form. I thought well maybe it was a fluke and ordered it again. Wouldn’t you know to my surprise the pellets are all powdered. I will definitely have to find another supplier. I love this brand and stand behind it but its hard to feed to my birds when the pellets are powdered.

Hagens is amazing
Hagens is amazing food and this price is cheaper then you can find it most places! Fresh batches with batch date on each bag! This food improved the look and feathering of my parrots and they all love this food! Recently purchased some from Amazon and the bag was expired, called and they sent me another bag and that one was expired, on the third try I got a good bag. Amazon was amazing at fixing the issue quickly and making it right in the end.

One of the BEST foods a parrot can have
Having several parrots, food is bought is as large a quantity as possible. It’s expensive up front but save me about $90 a year. Wasn’t able to put in the usual order for a number of months – just using smaller bags and feeding fresh fruits, veggies and nuts. When my macaws saw that bowl of Hagen Tropican coming towards them & they got a whiff of it they both immediately began blushing, their eyes began pinning (a sign of excitement) and saying, “Want some? Want some?” Neither of them wasted any time getting their head in the bowl. As they began eating they were bobbing their heads up & down saying, “Ummm good. Yummy! Yummy!”They’ve gotten this excited over a new toy or some special comfort food I whipped up for them but none of the other name brand parrot food I’d been getting when we ran out of Hagen Tropican.I feed my parrots everything healthy thing under the sun that’s appropriate for them but the Tropican Parrot sticks are the icing on the nutrition “cake”.

Budgies, Linnies, Tiels, Bourkes all hate it
So the scent is natural, supposedly, but d*mn is that some strong scent. Apparently natural banana and orange oil smells like a mix of juicy fruit and classic bubblegum.I have 32 small parrots, including American and English budgies, linnies, cockatiels, and Bourkeâs. My birds are not picky eaters at all and they have been on a number of different pellets based on availability and my budget at the time. Their favorite by far is Harrisonâs high potency superfine (excellent quality but expensive) and Caitec they seemed to like okay but I think the size was a little too big for the smaller budgies. They gave me confused looks at first but otherwise no complaining.They like Mazuri (least expensive option without colors) less than Harrisonâs and Caitec, and a little complaining at first – but this Tropican is by far the least favorite. They literally yell at me all day when this is the last pellet in their dish. The only other pellet they probably like as little as this one is TOPs – same issue.I also feed sprouted seeds, veggies, hard boiled egg, etc., and try to focus on a mostly whole food diet, so maybe that makes a difference since they have something to compare by daily, but they donât mind most other pellets nearly as much as this one. Bummer.

Has everything my African Grey parrot needs , one bag will last him about 5 weeks , I give greens , dry pasta and a cookie with the Tropicana biscuits

Great product, really good for our conures and lasts ages. Smells really nice too, a bit like cinnamon. Parrots really live this to nibble on.
