Great product, but not fresh enough to last as long as necessary
I have been using this product ever since my avian vet recommended it years ago.Our 27 year old Goffins cockatoo seems to relish it and it remains a staple in her diet.Unfortunately, the stock that I received had a much too short shelf life left, based on the sell by date.Normally, this size will last about a year for us and I know from conversations that I’ve had with Lafeber, if the product is fresh when sold it can have an 18 month shelf life.I complained to Amazon about the short shelf life of the product they sent me and was sent another order. Unfortunately, the replacement had the same expiration date.This is very frustrating for me. I love the product and the price is great, but if it’s only good for six months or so, it’s not a bargain.Not at all what I expected.

Highly suggest!
Iâm not sure if it was just luck, but we got our cockatiel at a few weeks old. His diet was seeds and millet, and we were told to keep up on that. So we did. Then he got sick, took him to an avian vet, long story short, they said he could afford to lose some weight, and we should start transitioning him to pellets because seeds arenât that healthy for them in the long run, but they said it would be HARD to get him to switch… I bought this with high hopes, and it was love at first sight. He tried one bite, and never looked at seeds again. Good price for a good amount, AND he loved them from the start. Also! No added colors/dyes, which is also considered âbadâ for them. Highly suggest this for cockatiels.

My lovebirds enjoy eating these pellets
I have 2 lovebirds, both just stared at me first while the other also started screaming. After a couple of hours they realized it’s not something out of the ordinary, took a bite, and now they continue to eat these. Tried them myself too as I always do with new bird pellets I buy (bound to get sick at some point, lol). Doesn’t taste like fruit cereal or anything that’s too sugary. Very plain, good healthier option if you dislike the colors some bird pellets have. They are also not too hard, was super easy for me to chew so I would assume birds would absolutely have no issue eating these. Was about to buy parakeet pellets from this brand, as my birds prefer small pellets. But these are not big, pretty small. If these are small then the parakeet one is probably slightly smaller? This pellet size is just right for medium size birds.

I decided an all NutriBerries diet wasnât good even though my birds love them and they allegedly have ânutrition of pelletsâ. It took a few days, but both my cockatiels will eat these, but it seems like they do begrudgingly. They are probably too big for cockatiels. My female is smart⦠she takes one in her beak, hops over to the rope and uses it as a platform to hold it still while she eats it. My male is kind of dumb (but loveable)â¦. many of these end up just pinging around the room. I will keep searching for a better pellet.

PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW
The birds that are used to seeds won’t touch them! but seed diet alone is not healthy! birds need pellets for a complete diet nutrition. What you do is take the pellets grind them in a coffee grinder. Put some powder vitamin or probiotic powder for better yet. Take millets spray seeds out of the stem and throw them in the mix, as well as 10% amount of regular seeds, warm some water in microwave and put in the mixture making it into a paste, then with you hands make little balls that look like treats and keep in fridge. My birds won’t touch the pellets but if I grind them and make them into treats by adding some millet spray and few seeds they now believe it to be a delicacy and love eating the treats! Now they like the pellets more than the seeds alone! You’re welcome!

My cockatiels and lovebirds absolutely love these. Although I am a bit confused about whether they are actually healthy or just a treat. How much pellet is actually being consumed?

nutrition wise, it has everything. it’s easy enough to crush. You can serve it moist. My bird likes it. It’s cheaper from this website then from petstore.
