Pagoda Cockatiel Cage

Awesome cage! Our Pineapple loves it!
We bought this cage for our pineapple conure and she absolutely loves it! We had had her in a smaller, but still roomy cage and she seemed happy, but when we put her in this bad boy her mood suddenly changed. She was excited and visibly happier. We’ve positioned the perches in a way that she can actually fly a little from one perch to another. She also uses the extra room to stretch her wings in her weekly wing flapping exercises. The construction is well built. The cage rolls easily despite it’s weight and the color is just as pictured. The package came with a small bottle of paint for touchups to the metal. The only negative we’ve found is that the paint around the areas where the cage is used most (such as the food bowl latches) started missing paint right away. It’s not a deal breaker and not really noticeable. One other thing is that the bars are not all vertical. The sides are horizontal. This makes for a pretty design but it makes adding things to the cage require a little more thought than usual.

This cage is well supported. By that I mean to say, the instructions I received were in simple English and with clear enough photos too, that even someone who had worked a full work shift and was 1/2 asleep could easily put this cage together (as I did). Further, the manufacture honors their warranty without any additional cost, which I used to replace the plastic seed catching tray (which is the only plastic part you’ll have).It is true that some of the bars may need to be popped into the holes, but I simply used a screwdriver as leverage and in they went. Beyond that, this cage is rock solid and very sturdy.I even like that you can decide whether to have to food trays on top (as seen on the photo here on Amazon) or have them below (as seen in the instruction). I highly recommend you place your food dishes below as it will help manage the mess that birds make, plus it will give your birds more room to play around (since most birds like to remain high above). But again, the choice is yours.The seed guards (or spill guards) on this cage are solid and very easy to install. I find many (other) cages out there, basically have you conducting a balancing act, while you try to screw things together. With this cage, that is not the case as they actually have placement holders (it is like having an extra pair of hands). The guards also line up correctly, leaving virtually no gap between themselves and the cage (meaning fewer seeds on the floor of you home).The wheels provided are not the usual cheap plastic wheels that you find virtually everywhere else (which often break). This cage has a metal housing around the wheel and inside is a very large, hard plastic ball. The design means it will not scuff up your wood floors, yet it will also not jam or crack should seeds find their way (the ball will crush the seed and keep rolling with ease). The wheels also swivel in any direction you roll it, making it for easy mobility (not fighting against you) and yet hold enough weight so that the cage is not rolling on its own (should your floor be uneven).The food dishes (you’ll get 3) are solid stainless steel making for easy cleaning. They are neither super shallow or deep, which means your birds will be given the exact amount of food and water… ie… They can easily reach the bottom of the dish, so food is not wasted, and yet enough food to hold them over (2 – 3 days with cockatiels, which I have 2 of).The cage comes with 2 sturdy purchases. They kind that are good enough for my cockatiels, but not something they’re going to chew through. I also found this case had enough space that I was able to install a few extra purchases I had so my cage now has a total of 4, plus a purchase swing on top and a lava ledge (for chewing). So you should have enough room for a few toys of your own.Finally, I believe the main doors to be child proof and birds escape proof. Most (other) cages have a simple latch or button and while that may sound nice, just about any 4-year-old can push a button or pull a latch. Ironically, so can smarter birds. This cage has a pinch bar, which means you need to gently squeeze the two tabs together to release the lock. Which is something a bird could never do given the distance and while it is straightforward enough to use, your child can pull on the door all he or she wants, nothing is going to happen. lolI bought this case Prevue Pet Products Pagoda Cockatiel Cage, Coco and Cream to replace my old cage New Large Play Top Bird Cage Parrot Finch Macaw Birdcages Heavy Duty which we had for 7 years, but it was damaged during a move (our fault) and the old cage had been long since discontinued. I needed a home for 2 cockatiel birds (named Phoenix and Athena). Ideally, it needed to be big enough for them to play around in, yet not take up as much room as my old cage once did.I would strongly recommend this cage.

Amazing, roomy cage for a cockatiel! It was easy to put together, but the only thing I’d change about it would be to keep the height, but make the cage wider. Cockatiels are going to spend most of their time at the top of the cage, so the usable space isn’t as much as it could be. However I knew what I was buying and it’s a good cage regardless!

Nice cage. Door latches stick because paint is buckled, but thats it!
