Please DONâT use this as a flight harness!
I ordered these to try as a bird diaper for when I take my pet parrot out on walks with me in case we go into a store since birds poop constantly. Iâm mostly only giving this item one star due to the listing not only describing this as a nappy / bird diaper but itâs also describes it as a harness / fight suit which itâs not! At least itâs not safe to use it as such in my opinion at least not on an actual flighted bird that can fly! Please donât use this to take your pet parrot / bird outside using this! Itâs not safe/secure enough! Any bird, especially any parrot, could not only easily chew through the thin cord on this but the little bit of Velcro that holds the nappy onto the bird isnât secure enough for this purpose. That little bit of Velcro could easily come loose! And then there goes your beloved bird flying away. They make actual bird leashes that securely CLIP on around the bird and are secure and thick enough not to be chewed through by the bird (as opposed to tiny little pieces of Velcro that arenât secure). As you can see in the listing video, many of the birds are chewing at the item. My pet parrot also chews at his leash I think because itâs annoying and he wants out of it although he does like going outside so he tolerates it. The cord portion of this also attaches to this little cloth loop on the side (see photos) which again isnât secure in any way plus in my opinion it should attach in the front on the chest area – like my actual bird leash does. The way the leash portion attaches to the hook and eye portion also isnât secure. Iâm sorry but it only takes one little issue and your beloved pet bird will be gone forever. As far as using this product as a diaper, well itâs too small for my blue headed pionus, so I canât put it on him. Iâd say this probably wouldnât fit anything larger than a Cockatiel. It says size small âparakeet / Lovebirdâ but I took a chance. The inside does look to be some type of water resistant material/liner but I donât know where the poop would go / be held in there without getting all over the birdâs bottom and tail. Seems to me there would need to be more of a void inside to collect the droppings but I canât actually try it out since itâs too small. I guess youâd have to give the bird a bath after using this. As far as wash ability goes, these seem to be the quality of a hand made item youâd buy at a craft show. Maybe washing them on the gentle cycle would be okay. I would have given this item another star or two IF they didnât list it as being used as a flight harness and if it was only listed to be used as a diaper
