About Us
We are a husband and wife team that breed show-quality Wyandottes and Orpingtons for sale in Australia. Our main business is selling a range of products online, but our chickens take up about half of our time, as we sell hundreds of young birds at about 6 months of age each year. We have used our saddles without any problems in heavy rain falls, heavy frosts, and even in the middle of summer when it regularly gets over 100 degrees in the shade.

Works great, strong and well-made!
Bought this for a hen at the bottom of the pecking order who was getting harassed by the rooster as well as several dominant hens. She was losing feathers from the harassment. I received this saddle and the shipping was FAST! It was easy to figure out, but there were also instructions just in case, which was helpful. It went on the hen very easily and fit nicely. It stays on her securely even when she is very active and when she gets attention from the rooster. Actually just having it on her seems to dissuade some of the other hens from picking on her. Her feathers are starting to grow back now. She shows no discomfort or anything from wearing it and actually seems to be a little more confident since she is not being harassed so much. ABSOLUTELY worth the money. It seems to be very well made, and sturdy, and easy to clean. If I ever need to saddle another hen I’m 100% buying from this company again. Thanks so much!

Great hen protection
This worked great to protect one hen who was being picked on by the others. Very sturdy, seems comfortable her. Now that the others can’t pick on her she has changed her whole personality and if full of confidence.

Just what I needed!!
I’ve had chickens for about 14 years. I used saddles about 12 years ago, but they were much different than these. Things change! I have a new flock of chickens that are about 9 months old now, and two of the hens are favorites of my two roosters. I’ve got 18 girls but these two seem to get more attention than the others. Unfortunately that means that their backs are basically devoid of feathers at this point. My biggest concern is that with naked skin showing, they are subject to mosquitoes, and other biting bugs, Plus being scratched or hurt by the roosters.I chose these particular Saddles because they were a mesh material. I didn’t need the Wing protectors, but they came as a set. I thought they were a bit expensive, but the reviews for them were very good. I chose mesh because I live in Central Florida, and it’s hot here about 8 months of the year. Plus we get a lot of rain through the summer. I figured that the mesh would allow them to stay cool and dry quickly. No solid material to make them overheat during the summer months. They were easy to put on, although the girls weren’t very happy with me! Lol! One girl walked backwards for about 10 minutes, the white one, and scared everybody in the flock!! I think they thought she had lost her mind or something. And the other girl didn’t even notice she had it on. Neither one notices they’re wearing it at this point. The mesh material is very flexible yet very strong. They are extremely well made, and the snaps are very strong. My girls are mid to smaller size so I used it on the smaller snap size, and it fit fine. I imagine that I will get many years of use out of these. I was hoping that I could buy a two pack of the mesh, but it was only available in size small. I’m not happy at having to spend $26 for two saddles, but what can I say. As I stated earlier my decision was based on it being a mesh material, and being the only such mesh Saddles available that I can find.Overall, I think they are a very good product. They are very well made, and very sturdy. I’m sure that they’re very easy to clean if necessary. And they protect the girls backs very well. Very happy with my purchase!

Easy to size and ‘apply’ to hen, works great!
I am really a fan of this saddle. I have a barred rock who had lost a significant patch of feathers on her back during molt. As they tried to grow back in, a few of the other hens were fascinated with them (read, ‘those dont belong, let me pull them out for you!) and wouldn’t allow them to grow back in. This saddle covered the area perfectly. The other ladies pecked it a few times out of curiosity, then left her alone in her new ‘armor.’ She’s dustbathed in it daily, and it hasn’t slowed her down at all. She isn’t much of a flyer, but had no issues getting onto the perch at night. The pros-1. Very adjustable on the fly (pun intended).2. Heavy weave (looks like it would be great vs rooster treading)3. Moisture resistant4. Very easy to apply (I just can’t say ‘dress my chicken’). My birds are well handled, and it only took a minute or two, complete with adjusting the snaps for a more snug fit, to gear up my girl (one person holding a grape, the other placing the saddle, figuring the best placement and snapping it closed). Literally in minutes she was wandering around as if she’d worn this her entire life. No muss, no drama, no issues once it was fitted properly. The cons-It’s a heavy weave (but that’s the point, isn’t it?). I’m not sure I would use this in the heat of a Florida summer though because of the thickness.I left it on her for several days, and then took it off for a few hours before reapplying. For some reason, I was concerned it would keep moisture in (high humidity environment) but that didn’t seem to be an issue.Great product, and I would happily purchase again. A wider range of colors would be nice, but hardly a necessity.

Look closely FIRST.
This product is FANTASTIC and worth the money BUT before you stress a hen 2 pieces of advice.1. Inspect the product and make sure it is fully functional before you try it on a hen or :you know what” happens ð© when you have a stressed out hen flapping feathers. Yeah. Let’s say that experience (yes yes it’s “my fault” for trusting it was a complete product) contributed DIRECTLY to 4 ð’s.2. Watch a video FIRST before you attempt to saddle the hen. The directions are a little hard for a visual or kinesthetic learner. Whatching a tutorial helped out a ton. The actual “side to face up” is seen in both photos. The strap goes under the wing and attaches to the snap that, in my case, was unfortunately missing. Then the three snaps secure those straps in place. Thankfully I ordered 2 to start so I was able to help out the hen.Would I recommend this product? You bet. It fits securely Will I buy a few more for my flock? Absolutely ð¯ %.

Saved my hens back from being torn open from our rooster as he had favourites he wouldn’t leave alone. Allows them to heal and grow their feather back and keeps the sun off fresh skin. Great product.

My poor bald hen was naked, so I bought this. She’s got used to it fast and seems very happy now. Great size, protects her well and looks comfortable. Doesn’t seem to slip, rumple or look too soggy, as it’s robust and really well made with lots of adjustments.Looks smart too!

You can tell this product was developed with a lot of attention to detail using only top quality materials. I am extremely happy with this purchase. The instructions to fit onto the chicken were perfect and the saddle does not bother her at all, she is now protected from the others who were pulling her back feathers out. I purchased a cloth protector from a local retailer for the same price and it was nowhere near the quality of this product, nor did it fit her well or keep the others away from her and returned it same day. I will be purchasing this product again and highly recommend it. Very high Quality Product!

This is a nicely made product. We liked the adjustability and the ease of fitting on to our small hen. She seems comfortable with it and it was a breeze to put on.

I’ve had these saddles/aprons on a couple of chooks for about a month now, because of no feathers left on their backs from constant rooster attention towards their two favourite hens. The aprons were easy to fit and the girls had no problem quickly getting used to them. They actually seem quite proud of their aprons! The hardest thing was catching the chooks and keeping them still/calm, then the fitting was easy, but I did read the instructions well and played with opening and closing of the clips etc beforehand. I used the standard clip stud fitting first (there is a size adjustment system). One chook needed hers tightened (clip moved to a different stud) due to slipping off one wing after a couple of weeks of wearing it, she’s been fine since then. I forgot to insert the optional soft black plastic ‘wings’ that came with the aprons, but found I haven’t needed them anyway (the ‘wings’ seem to be for stopping the apron from sliding sideways out of place, but I recommend initially trying the apron without them). Occasionally the rear end of an apron is turned upwards after a night jostling on the roost, but then it ends up back in the correct position on its own during the day. Their feathers are starting to grow back properly under the aprons, which is great because I was a bit concerned the tips would continue to be rubbed off. So I’m very pleased with this product, even the colours are nice. A big thank you to the designers and manufacturers.
