With patience & determination this works!âsquirrels RUN AWAY!!
Summer 2022 I keep a bottle on hand if a squirrel appears in my yard & begins to eye my feeders. My platform feeders are the target. Thereâs no need to go to extreme that I once did because squirrels stay away. Itâs as if they know to stay away due to my use of Coleâs Flaming Seed Sauce. A mixture of this sauce with the bird feed that goes in my platform is enough to make a squirrel run. I watched the one aim for the shepherdâs hook with my platform. He got halfway up the pole, stopped & ran down it & out of my yard. I havenât seen that squirrel since. One bottle for the cost gives me peace of mind my feeders will be squirrel-free. If youâre new to this squirrel sauce please follow my initial method- it works! Rememberâuse gloves to protect yourself & avoid inhaling as this is strong. Still, my birds arenât affected at all by this sauce. If anything more birdâs frequent my platform when the sauce is mixed in. This sauce is worth every penny I spend on it. It works! Squirrels will run away!!Summer 2021 Iâve continued to use this squirrel sauce now not nearly as much as I once did. Squirrels are no longer common since I began using this in 2019. If one happens to stop by & aims at my platform feeder I mix the sauce specifically on that food & itâs gone fast! I no longer have squirrels climbing my regular feeders like they once did. This sauce has brought such peace to my 2 bird feeder areas. One bottle may cost some but itâs so very well worth having around. I hope youâre having the success I have had with your squirrels & feeders. Happy Bird Watching!Initial review:Coleâs Flaming Squirrel Seed Sauce made my squirrels disappear & made my birds happier!! I love my birds & have multiple feeders. Over the years the squirrel population at my feeders increased. Early 2019 they took over. Squirrel proof bird feeders along with any type of squirrel blocker never kept them away. I tried the rodent spray/multiple things, nothing made the squirrels go away until I finally choose to purchase Coleâs Seed Sauce! With time & patience I was squirrel-free!! I was relieved & along with my birds, HAPPY. I read many reviews. I hope this one helps you. #1 Preparation & Dedicated Time #2 Keeping yourself safe #3 Following the instructions #4 The clean up. Iâve attached pictures of what I determined I needed to do the job right. It took some time but it works for me. I had a major squirrel problem & I havenât seen one near my feeders in months. I began this process in May. It took about 2 weeks for the squirrels to get a taste or smell of Coleâs sauce & they were gone!! They werenât hanging from my feeders or even on the ground eating dropped feed. Indeed GONE! Yes, I initially was worried on how the sauce would impact my birds. After about a week I was seeing more birds than ever! They do love their feed with this sauce. I solely use sunflower seeds. I have so much to share from my experience so you too can feel the relief I did in NOT seeing squirrels & truly enjoying my birds. â¢The bottle is securely closed. Itâs recommended to use gloves & avoid exposing it to your skin. This is vital as it has a hot sting to it & the smell is one you do not want to inhale. âFlamingâ indeed. These words are from my experiences & I now have a simple procedure in place. As you see in my pictures I use 1 big steel bird feed holder for the mixture. I have a 2nd filled with ready to use sunflower seeds. Purchasing a 2nd can was the key. Based on the directions I figured 20 pounds of bird feed needed a 1/3rd cup of sauce. Itâs worked perfectly. I bought long sleeve gloves to protect my skin. Thoroughly mixing the sauce evenly with the seed is important. The birds love every seed thatâs covered. Rain wetting the seed didnât impact its purpose at all. I initially made 20lbs of seed but Iâve increased the batch to mixing 40lbs at a time because my bird population has increased & I donât mind! The creator of this Flaming Squirrel Seed Sauce was a genius. Iâm thrilled with this sauce. I realized I had to take the TIME, remain DETERMINED & practice PATIENCE in order to find SUCCESS. Commitment made my bird feeders and yard SQUIRREL-FREE. The VALUE of this sauce is substantial obviously. I have it as one of my subscribe & save items so I have the convenience of ordering monthly as needed along with a cost savings.Aside from all I wrote I want to caution you to avoid having the used gloves, measuring cup, etc come in direct contact with anything. Iâve realized the importance of this after having skin irritations to simple but not so simple contact with a glove touching something else Iâd be touching with my bare hands. â¢After the mixture is complete I place everything in a plastic bag & I carefully wash all of it with hot water & soap. If this sauce gets on your skin itâs not enjoyable & it did become a persistent irritant on one occasion. Iâve learned to work fast now that I have a system in place because even with my thick gloves on I can begin to feel an burning irritant coming on. Be careful not to get your nose too close & not to inhale any of it. Iâm so happy with this product I canât recommend it enough. Coleâs directions on the bottle was my guide & then I created my own system from that. I realize this is a lengthy review but Iâm passionate about my birds & not about the irritating squirrels! 🙂 If you feel the same please give this a try. You wonât regret it. I hope my words & pictures help you. Good luck & happy bird feeding & watching!

Works great once you figure out the best way to apply it
This is a great product but it took some experimentation to figure out the most effective way to use it. I’d tried squirrel flipper bird feeders and squirrel baffles, and hot pepper flavored suet blocks. None of these worked to deter squirrels. They either weren’t fazed by the strength of hot pepper or they figured out a way to defeat the baffle. When I first added about a teaspoonful of this to my bird feeder, squirrels wouldn’t go near it. And neither would any birds. None. I think even birds who like the hot peppers (more on that shortly) were put off by the potency. So rather than waste another couple pounds of birdseed, I decided on a different approach. I wondered what would happen if I wiped a thin layer of the hot pepper oil (using a paper towel) on the sides of the bird feeder and along the 4-foot length of the feeder’s metal hanging rod. Sure enough, birds returned. But the squirrels who’d previously been chowing down would run up to the bird feeder, try to climb onto the feeder directly or scamper up along the oil covered rod. Then, after getting a good whiff of the hot pepper oil would freak out and then immediately leap away from the bird feeder and scramble up the nearest tree. They seriously hate this stuff. The down side? There are certain birds that will no longer go anywhere near the bird feeder. Some (like grackles and crows and other “bully birds”) are birds that won’t be missed. In fact, it tends to attract different species of woodpeckers almost exclusively. There are still the occasional cardinal and other songbirds. But the woodpeckers basically have the bird feeder all to themselves. The other thing (not surprisingly) is that it’s necessary to re-apply the oil to the sides of the bird feeder and the hanging rod every 3-4 days (or right after it rains) but it does the job of keeping the squirrels away. Btw, our bird feeder hangs off the edge of our deck. I think it also helps to squirt or wipe a little of the oil onto parts of the railing that I know people (especially small children) won’t be able to easily touch. One other approach I’ve found to be quite effective is about a teaspoon full in a quart size squirt bottle of water and spraying some of the foliage and tree branches from which the squirrels access the feeder. But I urge extreme caution with this approach. Be careful not to spray this on a breezy day when the spray can blow back on your face. You also want to be careful not to spray trees or shrubs in a way that people nearby or walking underneath could potentially be harmed. Again, this stuff is seriously hot and you don’t want to breathe in even a droplet or get it in your eyes or on your skin. So be sure after applying it to wash your hands in hot soapy water and absolutely wear gloves while applying it.Tip: use the âstreamâ setting on your spray bottle or canister to better control where the solution lands.

Birds Love it – Squirrels NO
A great deterrent for pesky squirrels – while attracting lots of cute birds! Coated unshelled sunflower seeds – big hit with my friendly juncos, towhees, house finches (love it), wrens, etc. Dropped 1 star due to hazard packaging – both by producer and Amazon. Product leaked in shipping bag. Husband picked up, not knowing what inside. Got oil on his hands and then, you guessed it, rubbed his eyes! Yikes! Shame on Amazon for improper shipping container, but mostly to producer for not using a more secure closure. WEAR GLOVES UPON RECEIVING AND USING – WILL BURN SKIN IF CONTACTS!!!!!! BEST TO TRANSFER TO BOTTLE WITH FLIP TOP AND/OR BETTER SEAL.

It Really Works!
I was recommended to this product, and can vouch that Cole’s works extremely well. As hot as the sauce is, the birds love it, and the squirrels don’t. We now have a bird feeder that is for birds only. Word of caution – follow the directions on the bottle to the letter. The fumes alone can make your eyes tear and wear gloves, as recommended, when filling feeders.
